I hope I can help you find your way through it. I see writing as a great collaborative effort. The writer herself/himself is a vessel of inspiration, vision, ideas… a sort of channel. But the process isn’t complete there. Some of us need a coach, to keep our vision and intent focused and on track.
Coaching is a fabulous tool for helping writers at many different stages: from the writer with a strong urge to further commit to writing, but not knowing exactly where to start, where it will lead, or how to carve out the time in their life; to the writer with a definite project in mind but daunted or bogged down by the size of the work and the necessity to find clear focus.
At the next level—the writing itself—all writers benefit from outside expertise of some sort, be it for the big picture of structure and organization, the intermediary level of word flow and content clarity, or for more granular language and grammar conventions. One way or another a writer can benefit from the input of another writer to help bring it all together and convey what is fully intended. That’s where the editor/developmental writer comes in.
In my 30 years of editing in a wide variety of contexts, I’ve seen how every writer needs help gathering, crafting, honing, and/or refining their communication.To this end, I can assist you or your organization in shaping both the ‘forest and the trees’ of your writing or message, resulting in a clear, sparkling end product you are proud of and ready to release into the world.
